2016 Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Coupé
Lamborghini has long been synonymous with pushing the boundaries of automotive performance and design. The Aventador LP750-4 SuperVeloce (SV) Coupé, unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, epitomises this philosophy, blending breathtaking speed with striking aesthetics. This limited edition model, restricted to just 600 units, represents the ultimate evolution of the Aventador platform, enhancing the legacy of this iconic supercar.
The Aventador, named after a legendary Spanish fighting bull, has been a symbol of raw power and precision since its introduction in 2011. The LP750-4 SV takes this legacy further, boasting an upgraded 6.5-liter V12 engine. With an impressive output of 750 PS (740 hp), the SV surpasses its predecessor, the LP700-4, in both power and performance. This beast of an engine, coupled with revised valve timing and intake systems, allows the SV to roar up to an 8,400 rpm redline, delivering a driving experience that’s as thrilling as it is formidable.

The SV’s enhancements aren’t limited to its engine. The car’s weight has been reduced by 50 kg (110 lbs) compared to the standard Aventador, thanks to extensive use of carbon fibre both inside and out. This weight reduction, combined with the increased power, gives the SV a remarkable power-to-weight ratio of one horsepower per two kilograms. The result? A 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of just 2.8 seconds and a theoretical top speed that exceeds 350 km/h (217 mph).
Road & Track recorded stunning performance figures for the SV: 0-241 km/h (0-150 mph) in 12.8 seconds, 0-322 km/h (0-200 mph) in 33.5 seconds, and a quarter-mile time of 10.4 seconds with a trap speed of 227.4 km/h (141.3 mph). These numbers underscore the SV’s status as one of the most formidable supercars on the road.

Improved aerodynamics play a crucial role in the SV’s enhanced performance. The car features a revised front splitter, rear diffuser, and a fixed carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) rear wing. These elements increase downforce by 180% compared to the standard Aventador, ensuring that the SV remains planted and stable even at high speeds.
The SV’s driving dynamics are further refined with electronic steering, magnetic push-rod suspension, and chassis improvements that enhance rigidity. These features combine to offer a driving experience that’s both exhilarating and precise, whether on a track or an open road.

The Aventador LP750-4 SV is as much a visual masterpiece as it is a performance marvel. Its aggressive lines and aerodynamic enhancements not only contribute to its performance but also give it an unmistakable presence. The car was available in a range of vibrant colours, with each of the 600 units representing a unique blend of Lamborghini’s design heritage and futuristic innovation.
Inside, the SV features a driver-focused cockpit with extensive use of carbon fibre and Alcantara, emphasising both luxury and weight savings. The minimalist yet sophisticated interior ensures that the driver remains connected to the car, enhancing the overall driving experience.

The Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV Coupé stands as a pinnacle of modern supercar engineering. It combines the raw power and visceral thrill of a V12 engine with cutting-edge technology and design. As production ended in July 2017, the Aventador SV left an indelible mark on the automotive world, celebrated by enthusiasts and collectors alike. It remains a testament to Lamborghini’s unwavering commitment to pushing the limits of what’s possible in a supercar.
